Kettl Tea

So excited for my new deliver from Kettl Tea. I've already sampled each of these incredible matchas, as well as their gyokru and all of them are smooth and full-bodied.

Working with many artisan farmers, Kettl offers many single cultivar and blended matchas. Most of these were excellent as a koicha, and all smelled fresh and clean like a summer morning.

  • Kiwami - matched its description as a complete experience - rich, thick, and creamy, like melted chocolate. If I had to choose, this would be my favorite of the ones I tried.

  • Uji Hikari is a single cultivar with a very full, but, clean and fresh flavor.

  • Hibiki was creamy and smooth with a strong umami flavor that lingered for quite some time.

All of these produced an excellent and rich umami flavor with little to no astringency or bitterness. All of these had an intensely emerald green color and whisked nicely into a thick foam. .

  • While still clean, the Shinme was the only one I detected a tad bitterness, but the first notes were powerful and full.

No where on the website did I see anything about organic, so I do not know to what end they may use fertilizers or pesticides. This is something I need to research more. However, I am still considering ordering the other blends and cultivars I have yet to taste. .

Overall, Kettl Tea, you have a new fan.
